Dear Friends,

As a spiritual community and a place of refuge we have a responsibility to do our best to protect the wellbeing and safety of our visiting guests, our teachers and
our residential community.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic we have been closely monitoring the developing situation and, being mindful of government recommendations and also the advice from our trustees, we have decided to close the centre after Sunday 22 March. The centre will remain closed throughout April and all activities including classes, teachings and regular group practice will be cancelled during this period.

We will continue to provide updates through our website and social media.

With best wishes for your health and happiness

Come join us for a fabulous evening of discussions and interactions with like-minded people trying to learn more about how we all can reduce our environmental impact.

At Samye Dzong, we will be hosting an event on the 22nd April celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. The ever-present issue of climate change continues to be a topic of discussion and we have based our event on the 2020 theme of Climate Action.

We are very fortunate to have Sarah and Dale from Bermondsey Street Bees, Hannah from Greener Habits and Oliver Hade from Walworth gardens to discuss how they are fighting climate change in their personal and professional lives.

We would love for you to join us on this special occasion.

Walworth is a garden center described as an urban oasis in the heart of Southwark. Established in 1987 as a community garden from reclaimed derelict land, the garden remains true to its founding ethos of providing a place of tranquillity, growth and opportunity. The multicultural hub offers education, training and therapy for the wider community as well as a place to relax and unwind in a natural environment.

Bermondsey Street Bees- Sarah and Dale

The company was founded in 2007 by Dale Gibson & Sarah Wyndham Lewis as a sustainable beekeeping practice focusing on bee health and biodiversity. Using traditional and artisial production methods, the company produces multi-award winning raw honey that has delicate flavor and high nutritional quality. The company has gone from strength to strength since and has been awarded many accolades over the years. Some notable ones are the 'Best Honey in London' at National Honey Show: 2019, 2017 & 2011 and the 2016 ‘Small Artisan Producer of The Year’ at the Great Taste Awards, just to name a few.

Greener Habits- Hannah

Hannah is the founder of Greener Habits Co. which is a zero waste, plastic free & vegan bulk food & home essentials store. The business is based on the concept of reducing the carbon footprint on the world and facilitating options for customers to do the same. Not only does it have an environmental focus but it also helps support the Friend Farm Animal Sanctuary in Kent. A small percentage from each sale is donated to support the work and future of this Sanctuary.
