As a spiritual community and a place of refuge we have a responsibility to do our best to protect the wellbeing and safety of our visiting guests, our teachers and
our residential community.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic we have been closely monitoring the developing situation and, being mindful of government recommendations and also the advice from our trustees, we have decided to close the centre after Sunday 22 March. The centre will remain closed throughout April and all activities including classes, teachings and regular group practice will be cancelled during this period.
We will continue to provide updates through our website and social media.

Originally developed for British military veterans, Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep is a holistic approach to healing for people with stress or trauma affected sleep patterns.
In this practical workshop we’ll learn how to transform the harmful effects that stress and trauma can have on the third of our life that we spend asleep.
Using scientifically verified mindfulness-based techniques alongside breath and body-work practices the MODS Method helps to reduce stress before bed and optimise sleep quality.
Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep is based on an unconditionally compassionate approach to sleep & dreams and is made up of five core practices:
- Normalisation of Trauma Affected Sleep
- Hypnagogic Mindfulness (Yoga Nidra)
- De-stigmatising Nightmares
- Coherent Breathing (the Breath-Body-Mind approach)
- Lucid Dreaming
From common work-related stress to the more serious effects of trauma, this workshop teaches effective techniques to help you sleep better and wake up healthier.
The workshop will also explore:
- The Science of Sleep Cycles
- Reframing our Nightmares
- The Neuroscience of Trauma
- Optimising our Sleep Health
- Dream-work for Trauma Integration
Whether you currently have stress of trauma affected sleep or not, learning these practices is still really beneficial and so everybody is welcome to come and learn!
Charlie Morley is a bestselling author and teacher of lucid dreaming & shadow integration.
He has been lucid dreaming for 20 years and was “authorised to teach” within the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism by Lama Yeshe Rinpoche in 2008. He has since developed a holistic approach to dream work called Mindfulness of Dream & Sleep and written three books which have been translated into 14 languages.
For over 10 years Charlie has run workshops & retreats in more than 20 countries and continues to teach internationally. He’s spoken at Cambridge University, the Ministry of Defence Mindfulness Symposium, The Houses of Parliament and given the first ever TED talk about lucid dreaming.
In 2018 he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship grant to research “Mindfulness Based PTSD Treatment in Veterans” and continues to teach sleep & dream practices to armed forces veterans and civilians with Stress or Trauma Affected Sleep Patterns.
He formally became a Buddhist at the age of 19 and lived at the Kagyu Samye Dzong Buddhist Centre for 7 years. In his past life he trained and worked as an actor before running a hip-hop collective in his early 20’s.
He lives in London with his wife, astral projection researcher Jade Shaw. When he’s not teaching he enjoys martial arts (he has a black-belt in Kickboxing), going dancing and pretending to meditate.
Traditionally the Buddhist teachings are given freely because they are considered priceless and those receiving the teachings practice generosity, or Dana, by making monetary offerings for the centre. This generosity is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is an offering given, freely from the heart, in appreciation for receiving the precious instructions that can help better one’s life and the lives of others.
Making a donation directly helps to provide all the necessary conditions for the study and practice of meditation and Buddhism, bringing teachers to teach and maintaining a spiritual community as well as contributing to the considerable expenses that are involved in running a centre.
