About the event
Learning the Tibetan language gives one access to Tibetan literature which includes thousands of translations of Sanskrit texts from India – many of them lost in their original language – and twelve centuries of writings by Tibetan masters.
In this Lower Intermediate Class students will expand their Tibetan vocabulary and their reading and writing practice. During this class students will be reading Tibetan Children's Story Books, and developing their grammer. As a student progresses, the emphasis is on developing vocabulary and getting a sense of the structure of the language, and the finer points of grammar and nuances of meaning. To attend this course the students need to be able to read and write fluently. This course is designed for those who have been attending the Beginners Class, if you are new a basic ability to read the Tibetan Script is required, please contact the office for any other questions.
This is a 8 week course starting on the 8th January , this course will run every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 PM until the 26th of February. The dates for this course will be 8th Jan, 15th Jan, 22nd Jan, 29th Jan, 5th Feb, 12th Feb, 19th Feb, 26th Feb. It is strongly recommend you attend all classes.
About Drukthar Gyal: Drukthar was born in Tibet, grew up in India and did further studies in the United Kingdom. He graduated from the University of Westminster and Edinburgh. He was a former Tibetan language teacher at Tibet House, Culture Centre of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in Delhi. He is an experienced Tibetan language Teacher with excellent knowledge of Tibetan language, literature and Tibetan culture.
Please Note: The number of participants for this course is limited. We ask that students seriously commit to attend all the classes to the best of their ability, and also set time aside for homework.
