Having developed an early interest in Buddhism and Asian culture, Trinley spent six years teaching English, mostly in Japan and the Far East. He became a Buddhist having discovered Kagyu Samye Ling in 1994. Since then Trinley has spent several years in retreats and was ordained as a monk, with the name Tashi Zangpo, under Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche. After being a monk for seven years he took life vows in India in October 2010 and received the name Gelong Trinley.
He currently teaches Introduction to Meditation courses, and courses on Buddhism. He also runs meditation retreats at the London centres.
