Everything we do has an impact, and our choices determine whether the outcome is harmful or not. How can we live our lives 'lightly' in the 21st century, without causing ourselves and others more harm? How are we to become more discerning in our behaviour?

Ethics is not simply a matter of knowing, it is also about our actions. Living ethically requires a conscious adoption of an ethical outlook and also a commitment to developing and applying inner values in our daily lives.

This is outlined in the Buddhist texts as having three aspects:

  • ethics of restraint
  • ethics of virtue
  • ethics of altruism

We will look at these three aspects in relation to daily life.

This is a weekly course taking place over three Thursday evenings between 19:00 and 20:30. Participants are recommended to commit to come to all the teachings sessions.

Course donations

From January 2015 all our Dharma and meditation courses will be offered without a suggested course fee.

In the Buddhist tradition one practices generosity, or Dana, by making monetary offerings for the teachings. This generosity is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is an offering given freely from the heart in appreciation of the Dharma.

Please read Lama Zangmo's letter for further information.
