The Mindfulness Association's Insight* Practitioner Certificate course is a training in deepening our recognition of psychological process.
It is suitable for those who have completed the Mindfulness Association's Mindfulness Practitioner Certificate course (or Mindfulness One Year Training) and Compassion Practitioner Certificate courses (or Compassion One Year Training).
This training builds on the mindfulness and compassion trainings that preceded it. In the mindfulness training we learned how to settle and stabilise our minds, while in the compassion training we developed the capacity to hold our inner experience with warmth and kindness. Now in the insight training we deepen our understanding of psychological process by exploring the roots of our experience, and what drives us.
This training will be presented over three weekend modules. During the first two weekends we will explore the different levels of mind, and in particular we will look at how to gain access to the subliminal level since this is where the conditioned reflexes that drive our reactions are located. We will see how thought patterns arise involuntarily and how we buy into them before we even realise it, and how there is a sense that ‘this is the way it must be’. Rob Nairn calls this the ‘subliminal reflex’. We will work with methods of inquiry and reflection, and we will deepen our experience of resting that we practiced in the mindfulness module. In the third weekend we will work directly with our emotions and see how our negative emotions can be a source of psychological growth if we relate to them skilfully, rather than compulsively identifying with them.
*The term Insight on this course is defined as follows:
- The English language meaning:
- The power of seeing into and understanding things.
- Awareness, often of one’s own mental condition.
- Insight learning: direct learning without process of trial and error;
- The psychological context implying deeper and sometimes spontaneous recognition and understanding of psychological process.
Cost:£420.00 for all three weekends, including manuals, payable in three monthly installments of £140.00
