Farewell to Manor Place
Posted on 10 Sep 2015
As many of you know, in the process of establishing a permanent centre here in Bermondsey, we were fortunate to have temporary use of the beautiful old baths building in Manor Place, near Kennington/Elephant & Castle. We originally thought we would be there for five years, but this was extended and we have been there for ten wonderful years in total.
Due to impermanence (and building works starting on the large site behind us) we have now been given notice to leave by Notting Hill Housing Association, and the centre will be closing to the public at the end of September 2015.
Karma Trinley, who has been running the centre for the last five years, will be going into retreat in Scotland in October, something he has wished to do for a long time. The public activities will therefore finish at the end of September, and this will give us time to vacate the building by the end of the year, which is the final date of our notice.
To celebrate the time spent there we will be having the very last meditation session in Manor Place on Weds 30 Sept at 7pm, followed by food and drink. We hope many of you who have come to love the place and the beautiful shrine room will be able to join us.
We will also be having a celebration in honour of Karma Trinley in Spa Road on Sunday 27 Sept at 7pm, with a Guru Rinpoche Tsok Puja followed by some food.
Both of these dates – Sunday 27 September at Spa Road and Weds 30 September at Manor Place – will be an opportunity to say goodbye to Trinley before his retreat. If some of you would like to thank him for his kindness and dedication over the years, offerings, however small, towards his retreat would be a good help and support for his future.
We hope those of you who live close to and have been coming to Manor place, will enjoy the many events that take place in Spa Road, and we look forward to seeing you here in the future.
