Request for contributions to the Akong Rinpoche Archive

Akong Rinpoche's Archive

Request

 21st August 2014

Dear Friends,

At Samye Ling on October 8th this year we will be holding a memorial exhibition of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche's life, to mark the anniversary of his passing. We aim to create an exhibit encompassing as much of Rinpoche's life as possible and celebrating his wonderful activities throughout the world. Please join with us in this noble aim by sending photos, letters, audio or video connected to Rinpoche. This is also the start of an ongoing archive of Rinpoche's work and teachings, entitled Akong Archive, which will ultimately be online for all to view and benefit from. This letter is a request for any pictures, film footage, audio footage, or other articles which would be applicable.

Sending Content:

Small files: If you have any things which would be of help to the archive, which can be emailed, then please email them directly to AkongArchive@samyeling.org.

Large files: If you have anything that would be of help to the archive, but too large to email, then please upload it via one of the online transfer sites (Google Drive, Dropbox, Yousendit, Wetransfer, Sendspace etc.), and send the link to: AkongArchive@samyeling.org.

Please help us with cataloguing by giving some information about whatever you are sendin g; When it was taken, where was it taken, something about the event or happening, your name.

Credits & Copyright: If you are sending imagery then please include the name of the photographer/artist, and an acknowledgement that you/they (if the imagery is not your own) are happy for the image to be used. If you don't know who took it please send it anyway.

Resolution: If you have any original images, please scan them and send at as high a resolution as possible. If you are unable to scan them and are happy to donate them, then please post them to:

Akong Archive
Administration Office
Kagyu Samye Ling
Eskdalemuir
Dumfriesshire DG13 OQL
Scotland, UK.

If you would like them to be included and returned, please post them to above address and enclose an SAE, or let us know if you are coming to Samye Ling and can collect them.

Deadline:

We are working to a very short deadline to receive content for the exhibition, so if you have content that you think would be good to be included, then please do let us know and send it as soon as possible so that we can catalogue it and look at potentially including it within the exhibit. This content ideally needs to be received by September 10th at the latest, but the sooner the better. However, as the archive is ongoing, please continue tosend in items.

Please pass on this information to anyone you know who has a connection with Rinpoche and may be able to contribute to the exhibit and archive. Akong Rinpoche touched so many lives and helped so many people, and it would be lovely to be able to include as much of that sentiment and experience as possible within the exhibition and later in the archive so that more beings can benefit from his actions in the future.
