This month Lama Zangmo will be delivering a series of three evening talks - Inner Potential, Inner Peace. Just like a seed becomes a plant witht he right conditions, our own latent potential ripens into inner peace. These evenings will be a combination of instructions and meditation suitable for all, commencing Thursday 5th February.

Lama will also be completing her series of days  teaching on the Seven Points of Mind Training. This month, on Saturday 14th February, Lama will teach on the sixth and seventh points of mind training in a day entitled "Serving Others".
Samye Dzong London is pleased to be hosting an Introduction to Mindfulness practice session led by Vin Harris. All the donations for this evening's talk will be going to  Rokpa UK

A few years ago hardly anyone had heard of Mindfulness but now it seems as if it being applied everywhere; schools, hospitals, social workers, businesses, athletes and even politicians are all becoming interested in the benefits of this simple practice of learning to simply pay attention to what is happening.  There is no need to subscribe to a particular doctrine or belief system  All that is required is the willingness to be present and the wish to enhance happiness and reduce suffering.

An ever growing body of research shows that Mindfulness meditation can really help people learn to survive and thrive in the midst of the stresses and pressures of the modern world we find ourselves in.  Knowing the theory may be interesting but without direct personal experience nothing actually changes.  For this reason the introduction to Mindfulness training will give an insight into what Mindfulness is (and what it is not) with the focus on providing participants with simple practices that they can learn and apply for themselves with a particular emphasis on the benefits of Compassion for oneself and others.

An Introduction to Mindfulness and Compassion takes place at Spa Road on Friday 6th February, 7.00 - 9.00 pm.
On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February, Vin Harris and Erik Sleutjes will be at Spa Road leading the Mindfulness Association's Mindfulness Practitioner Foundation Course on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February.

At the end of February Gelong Thubten will be offering a summary of the history of Tibetan Buddhism, with the stories of Guru Rinpoche, the establishment of Samye - the first monastery of Tibet, and the introduction to Tibet of the various lineages of Lord Buddha's teachings.

There will be an overview of the different Schools of Tibetan Buddhism, with particular emphasis on our own Kagyu Tradition. The lives of the great Kagyu Forefathers, Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, Gampopa and Karmapa, will be summarised, as well as teachings on the importance of lineage and devotion.

When we become aware of the profound lineage we are following, and the great deeds of liberation by the Masters of that lineage, faith and confidence in the path can arise. This certainty, along with compassion for all beings, are key elements on the Dharma path.

On Friday 27th February, Thubten will be giving an evening talk on the six syllable mantra of Chenrezig.  Full details on the mantra of compassion and working with the emotions can be found on the webiste.

Forever Young is an older people's movement program  created by Parkour Dance and supported by Kagyu Samye Dzong London, that fuses parkour, dance and yoga for well-being and fitness.

The classes are taught in a fun relaxed manner but encourage participants to challenge themselves if they are physically capable of a movement. The classes focus on play and exploration through movement with the aim to engage with and strengthen the body to sustain and improve functionality. The exercises are slow, broken down, gentle and gradual, with the teachers increasing the level of movement with the confidence and movement repertoire of the participants.

Sessions are every Tuesday from 3rd March - 12th May, 10:30 am -12:30 pm with a good earned tea break in the cafe afterwards from 12:30 - 1:00 pm. This course is free.

To book a place or ask any questions email jade@parkourdance.co.uk.

Below is a video, Memories in Motion, which features one of the participants in the previous Forever Young class.
