Dear Friend,

Welcome to the March Newsletter.

Kagyu Samye Dzong aims to provide a place of peace and tranquility for all in central London, with the shrine room available for individuals to come and sit during the day.  For full details of the Centre, including the programme of evening meditations and forthcoming events, visit the website.
News in Brief

  • A new programme for the coming months is being prepared and new dates are currently being added to the programme on the website. Feel free to browse ahead and add some dates to your diary.
  • Book your courses online 24/7 - you no longer have to contact the office to book and pay for any courses you want to attend. Simply go to the course page on our website and underneath the course description you will see the words "Click on the button below to book onto this course."  Here's a handy example
  • Brighton Marathon runners - many thanks to those who have already sponsored one or more of the Rokpa Runners who are currently training for the Brighton Marathon. Earlier today Colin came back from a quick 21 mile run - and this is over a month beforehand. The marathon itself is only the end of a process of considerable training. More information and links to the pages of each runner can be found on our website.
  • Dates for your diary -  there will be a Nyungney Easter Weekend Retreat from 19th-21st April. On the day before, Gelong Thubten will be offering Nyungney Instructions - just one of three events he will be leading that week. A full retreat timetable will be available nearer the time. The following weekend Clive Holmes will be leading a workshop on Giving Up Suffering

Everyone at Kagyu Samye Dzong London wishes you a Happy Year of the Male Wood Horse.

The weekend will consist of sessions of shinay meditation, Chenrezig Pujas and mantra accumulations for Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche with the Kagyu Samye Dzong Sangha. There will also be light offerings and prayers for peace and auspiciousness for the lineage and the whole world.

People are recommended to bring lights and flower offerings for the shrine.

We need your help!

Forever Young is a FREE older people's movement course supported by and based at Kagyu Samye Dzong London. The course is run by Parkour Dance Company and fuses parkour, dance and yoga for well-being and fitness. It brings together local senior people to increase physical and mental capability, combat loneliness and have fun! The five 5 biggest illnesses in older people are Dementia, Heart Attack, Arthritis, Parkinson's and Diabetes. Forever Young helps to prevent and/or reduce progression of these by increasing:

        * mobility
        * strength
        * flexibility
        * balance
        * memory
        * coordination
        * motor skills
        * spatial awareness
        * self-expression
        * well-being.

We hope to start the free course on Tuesday April 22nd but if we do not raise enough funds unfortunately it cannot go ahead. To find out more or support us please watch our campaign video

We believe that movement transforms lives BUT we need the extraordinary kindness of people like you in helping make this happen!

Thank you.

Join Alistair Appleton and Kathy Osbourne for this weekend in which we will look at the obstacles to truly caring for ourselves and explore numerous techniques for ensuring our good health, well-being and satisfaction. Giving ourselves permission to put ourselves first can seem like a radical and even transgressive step but leads to a sense of fullness and energy that serves not only ourselves but all beings we come in contact with.

Self-care: a compassionate approach takes place at Spa Road on Saturday and Sunday, 8th-9th March, from 9.30-5.00 pm. Suggested contribution £90 (concessions £60). To book onto this course please visit the Mind-Springs website.

Those who want to take their Buddhist practice and studies a step further may want to look north this summer towards Samye Ling where Drupon Rinpoche will be leading both a Shedra Studies course from 26th May to 25th June and a ten-day Meditation Practice Retreat from 1st - 10th July. He will also be giving teachings on the Jewel Ornament of Liberation from 11th July - 30th August. These will be popular and early booking is recommended.

Drupon Rinpoche will also be giving a Guru Rinpoche long life initiation on 4th September.

To see the full programme of activities at the Centre, please visit the website.

PLEASE NOTE - for courses run by Samye Dzong London, prices mentioned are suggested course donations only. A lack of funds should not prevent anybody from attending.
