2 - Auction to support Kagyu Samye Dzong London - your help needed!!

"My name is Addison Gelpey and I am a partner in two auction houses in central London's Criterion Auctioneers.

My parents, Judy and Joe Gelpey met in Kathmandu in 1968 and had an audience with His Holiness the 16th Karmapa in the early 70's, when they became good friends.  His Holiness asked my parents to run an Inn in Sikhim in 1972. His Holiness became fond of me after 'taking me under the fold', naming me Karma Norbu (Jewel of the Karmapa) and asked my parents if I could stay with him to be trained as a monk. My parents agreed but since I was only two years old, my mother asked my father to stay with me for six months to a year. However, very soon after a civil war broke out in the area, my parents took me away with them and my life followed a different course. How different it could have been...

The young Addison with His Holiness the 16th Karmapa

I have met with His Holiness on many occasions in my early years. He gave a Black Crown ceremony at my parents home in London in 1980 when I was ten years old, and I have had a strong affiliation with him until he passed in the early 80's. I have still to meet His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, but am sure I will feel the same when we meet.

Now I am in a position to give something back and I would like to invite you to participate in a way which will help Kagyu Samye Dzong London."

3 - Relaxation.. ..the Tara Rokpa Way

Jane Miller writes:

"Learning to Relax is a unique and practical programme introducing methods of relaxation for body and mind based on the book ‘Healing Relaxation’ by Edie Irwin.  It is suitable for anyone wishing to unwind and relax and explores the benefits of developing calmer states of body and mind. Simple methods of breathing, relaxation/ visualisation taught by Akong Tulku Rinpoche, Tibetan Lama and physician of traditional Tibetan medicine are used as an aid to self healing. Gentle physical exercises, fully clothed self massage and exchange massage are the other methods in this integrated approach.

These practical and effective methods offer a way of learning to look after our selves better, helping us become more in touch with ourselves and acting as an antidote to remedy the stress and tension caused by the often hectic way of life today. Looking after our selves better and becoming happier, healthier and more relaxed will have a naturally beneficial effect on others.

If you are someone who is aware that stress and tension are in the way of you enjoying life more, then you maybe someone who can benefit from the Learning to Relax methods.
