Manor Place Samye Dzong

BACKGROUND

In July 2003, our current site in Carlisle Lane was purchased by St Thomas's Hospital as part of their redevelopment of Founders Place. Manor Place Baths, the new home of Kagyu Samye Dzong LondonSince then our lease has been extended and we are expecting to stay at Carlisle Lane well into 2007 and possibly longer.

Early in 2005, after a thorough search, we had the good fortune to find a very suitable second location - the former Manor Baths in Southwark. We have negotiated a five-year lease on Manor Baths, and have now finished the work of renovating and decorating. We opened our new centre, called Manor Place Samye Dzong, on 17th March 2007 and we are running a full programme of events throughout the year.

How you can help

London Samye Dzong
Although the centre is now open, we still need help with cleaning, cooking and keeping the centre running.

We also need financial support to help cover the costs involved in running the centre. If you are able to help by sending a donation of any amount, this will be very helpful.

Please make any cheques payable to Kagyu Samye Dzong London. There is also a Donation Form in the Contact Us section of the website.

How to get to Manor Baths

An old Victorian building, the former Manor Baths is an impressive red brick building with a commanding frontage onto Manor Place. It is approx. 10 mins. walk from Kennington tube station, and a similar distance from Elephant and Castle. Bus routes 12, 35, 40, 45, 68, 148, 171, 176, 486 all pass close by.

Manor Place is a narrow street off the Walworth Road. Behind Manor Baths (no.33 Manor Place) is Southwark’s recycling facility, which will eventually relocate to the Old Kent Road. There is a police station on the opposite side of the road. A map can be found by clicking here.
